The grey crowned crane is a vulnerable species found only in southern and eastern africa. National bird of Uganda,this regal looking crane is highly photogenic and easily recognisable; but did you know that the future survival of the grey crowned crane is threatened by accidental and deliberate poisoning by farmers and agricultural chemicals?Added to threats already posed by drainage of natural wetland habitats, chick mortality from domestic dogs and cats, and fatal collisions with power lines, the future is far from certain for this beautiful bird.
